Q. I am having trouble recording. Microphone issues?
A. We suggest using a unidirectional microphone to record your voice. A unidirectional microphone minimizes feedback noise when you use it near a speaker, since the microphone is sensitive to sounds from only one direction. These microphones will be labeled as such when you purchase them.
USB microphones are sometimes preferred because they are not sound card reliant and are compatible with PCs, Macs and other gaming consoles that have the ability to browse the Internet.
If you are using a built-in microphone, we recommend recording songs while wearing headphones plugged into the computer. This prevents your built-in microphone from recording the music playing from the speakers. Noise from the speakers may produce a delay or echo effect, which could cause feedback squeal if your speakers are turned up too loud.

A.
We suggest using a unidirectional microphone to record your voice. A unidirectional microphone minimizes feedback noise when you use it near a speaker, since the microphone is sensitive to sounds from only one direction. These microphones will be labeled as such when you purchase them.
USB microphones are sometimes preferred because they are not sound card reliant and are compatible with PCs, Macs, and other gaming consoles that have the ability to browse the Internet.
Q.
Still having Microphone issues?
A.
You must first ensure that your microphone is properly plugged into your computer. Remember that you want to have the mic or mic extension of your headset plugged into the USB port or microphone jack, usually located in the front or back of your computer. Typically the microphone jack is in the back of the computer itself, either near where your keyboard plugs in, or lower on the back in one of the card slots. Some computer cases have the microphone jack placed at the front.
Note: If you have a USB headset or microphone, please make sure that you have installed all of the appropriate software and updates from the manufacturer's website.
Q.
How do I adjust Mic volume?
A.
Another factor that could causes issues is the mic volume in your computer settings.
On Windows:
- Click the Start button on the Windows Taskbar
- Go to Control Panel
- Click the Voice tab
- In the Voice Recording box, click the Volume... button
On Mac:
- Click the Apple Icon
- Click System Preferences
- In the Hardware section, click Sound
- Click Input
- Make sure the Input Volume is at an acceptable level
This should open the Recording Control window. In this window, you can make sure that your microphone is selected, and that the volume level is set to an acceptable level. If the volume is set too high, your recording will sound distorted.
Q.
How do I setup the Mic in Flash?
A.
Another way to guarantee your microphone is functioning properly is by going through the settings dialog through our Flash player. In the Microphone tab, you should notice that the Current Level indicator detects differences in sound input.
