Sonu Nigam is an renowned Indian Playback Singer. He was born on 30th July 1973. He started his singing career at the age of three by singing along with his father on the stage of Mohammad Rafi's "Kya Hua Tera Wada, "Wo Kasam Wo Irada." from then on words he accompanied his father on his singing appearances at wedding and parties. He used to participate in several music competitions and he moved to Mumbai with his father to begin his career in singing at the age of 19th.

Sonu for a few years in Mumbai faced many struggles and then he started singing covers of Mohammad Rafi's songs, mainly for a number of "Rafi's Ki Yaadein"albums released by T- Series. Promoter of T- Series "Gulshan Kumar" played a key role in identifying Sonu Nigam's talent and he given him a chance to reach a larger number of audience. These albums contributed to T- Series for some years although sonu's singing style was regarded by some like a "Rafi clone". As a playback singer his first movie was "Janam"in the year 1990, He has got several breaks in radio commercials.

He also hosted a TV show " Sa Re Ga Ma " a television singing talent competition , which soon became one of the most popular shows on Indian television, After that their was no turning back which gave him a chance to showcase his singing skills. The song which gave recognized as a playback singer was "Accha Sila Diya "from the movie" "Bewafa Sanam" in the year 1995. After that he got a chance from Anu Malik for the movie "Border" and sung "Sandese Aate Hain" in the year 1997. His image as a Rafi's clone was changed after his rendition of the Nadeem-Shravan composed song "Yeh Dil Deewana" from "Pardes". Since then Sonu created a unique style of his own and then he has become a role model for emerging vocal talent.

He has given his voice for many movies and won many awards. The title song of the "Kal Ho Na Ho" has become highly popular. He has given his voice for many languages besides Hindi, Oriya, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, Punjabi, Tamil, English, Bhojpuri and other. He remains particularly popular in south India for his Kannada songs and he has won a few awards and he his kannada album called "Neene Bari Neene ".
